In the footsteps of Agatha Christie ...
Since my childhood, I have been a huge fan of Dame Margaret Rutherford, alias Miss Marple. I still love her
black-and-white films today....
Later, I became interested in the 1920s and the Weimar Republic. In 2015, I travelled down the Nile on the SS
Sudan, the ship on which Agatha Christie had the idea for the book ‘Death on the Nile’ and which can be seen in
the 2004 film of the same name.
However, my favourite is and remains ‘Death on the Nile’ with Sir Peter Ustinov. I stayed at the Winter Palace
Hotel in Luxor and the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan, and in Istanbul in 2008, I was able to take a look inside the
"Pera Palace Hotel", which had not yet been renovated at the time; it was like travelling back in time. Later, I had
dinner in Cairo at the "Mena House Oberoi" in Cairo, where a friendly concierge showed me Agatha Christie's
room, and lunch in Syria on the Euphrates in Mesopotamia. What am I still missing? The Orient Express!
I had had the idea of writing a crime novel with a little bit of fetishism to spice it up for many years, and sometimes
it takes a while for everything to finally come together. And no, I'm not comparing myself to Agatha Christie, that
would be presumptuous!
And now here it is, my first fetish-crime novel! The sequel and the English edition of the first are
already in the works.
